Jaeger-LeCoultre Club

Introducing the Jaeger-LeCoultre “Club”. Go on, you know you want to join!

Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) introduced the Club range of watches as a more inexpensive line to broaden their market base, putting more collectors within reach of owning a watch from one of the world’s most prestigious brands. Today JLC is known as a master of complications, producing innovate tourbillons, minute repeaters and perpetual calendars. Throughout their history, JLC has been the “go-to” brand for business leaders, celebrities and even Royalty. There is no doubt that JLC are held in high esteem.

Our particular Club is a beautiful dress watch from the 1970’s. It is classically styled, featuring a Tonneau shaped case and an understated dial; it is Elegance personified. It is also in fabulous condition!

The clear Silver dial has bold polished 5-minute markers, rectangular in shape, that are bevelled with their tips coated with Tritium. The minute markers are printed in Black to match the JLC logo, all topped off by the raised JL logo at 12. At 3 o’clock the day and date are displayed in a polished surround. This particular “Club” has the option of English or French Days of the week. Both Day and Date are “quick-set” too.

The polished “Baton” hour and minute hands retain their Tritium lume and are complimented by an exquisitely thin and polished “centre seconds” hand.

The “Oh so 70’s” Tonneau brushed Stainless Steel case is in equally fine condition. There are a couple of scratches on the top lugs edge, close to the 57-minute marker. However, they don’t catch the eye, when wearing it and let’s face it, a scar always makes something more interesting. It wears it’s original “JL” winder which is sharp and crisp.

The caseback has one minor scratch, but other than that, it looks unused. The caseback is engraved with the model reference: E0300305 and the serial number: 1286380 below.

We have replaced the old leather strap with a Hirsch custom-made Blue Ostrich leather one; but we have retained the original 14mm “JL” buckle. It really makes the watch “pop”.

The AS 2066 movement has been recently serviced, using original parts, and is running perfectly. This movement is noted for its indirectly driven minutes which allows for a big balance while retaining a low profile.

There are occasions when a Sports or Tool watch just won’t cut the mustard, where subtlety is the order of the day. That’s when you need this type of watch; it’s all about clean lines and legibility, and that translates into a classic style that works in any decade. What can we say…? This is an exceptionally clean vintage watch, from one of the most respected watch makers in the world.

Membership to this particular “Club”, isn’t expensive either. Go on, you know you want to join!
