This is a brand new limited edition (500 available) Seiko Prospex SRPD48J1. It was released in 2019 by Seiko to mark their 65th Anniversary in Taiwan. It was only available in Asia and sold out quickly. We were lucky enough to obtain a new, unused example.
Based around the Prospex “Turtle” range it has a black case with green dial turtle and gold coloured bezel.
Headline features include 200m water resistance, Hardlex crystal, 41-hour power reserve, Unidirectional rotating bezel and Seiko’s accurate 4R36 calibre (+45 to -35 seconds per day) and a unique look.
The green dial is certainly eye-catching as is the bezel. Its day date wheel also stands out (the day wheel being in both Chinese and English).
Like many Seiko Divers, it’s comfortable on its silicone strap and for a big watch, it’s neither too heavy or bulky on the wrist. It comes in a special box with tags, manual.
Seiko Prospex like all Seiko Divers are incredibly popular with good reason. This example is also going to be a rare find.
