This is a beautifully refurbished late 1940s Movado Calendograph. A 9ct gold triple calendar wristwatch, with a signed manual wind movement calibre 475, numbered 3752, case back numbered 253752, hallmarks for Birmingham 1949.
With a diameter of 34 mm excluding the crown, it wears well as a distinctive dress watch.
The movement is running well and the calendar pushers function correctly, as it has just been completely stripped down, and serviced. It also comes with our usual 12-month guarantee for peace of mind. The 475 is particularly interesting on account of the day, date and month complications being all contained within a separate module.
The completely original two-tone dial is complex. Around its outside edge are the numerals 1 to 31, representing the calendar days in a month and, in the lighter coloured central area, are the Arabic hour numerals.
As can be seen in the photographs, the dial has noticeable marks and discolouration commensurate with its age. The case has been lightly polished and is in very good condition.
The watch comes with a brand new alligator leather dark brown strap from Hirsch with a gold buckle.
Movado was always known as one of the most innovative watch manufactures in the world. This old but very distinctive piece shows why.
