Omega De Ville “Jeux D’Argent”

Another “Lost Line” from Omega – The Emerald

The Emerald line was inspired by the designs that Andrew Grima created for Omega and introduced in 1971.

Grima, who was arguably his generation’s foremost jeweller, counted Queen Elizabeth II among his clients. The Emerald line is distinguished by the generous proportions of its emerald-cut crystals of precious stone, quartz or mineral glass.

Initially, the designs were reserved for the top of the Constellation range but as the Emerald line was extended, were increasingly seen in the Omega De Ville “Jeux D’Argent” Watch line and to a lesser extent, the Genève collection. The Emerald line was only produced at OMEGA until 1973 but it left a lasting impression. In fact today, over forty years later, if you see one it probably has the name of another well know fashion brand on its face. This line of watches was sold to Chanel in 1981!

Though a lost line at OMEGA these watches remain a “Premiere” collection today showing just how good the design was.

Our particular Omega De Ville “Jeux D’Argent” Watch is in fantastic condition. It is fitted to a gorgeous integral sterling silver Chain-mail strap with interconnecting clasp; and has a stylish octagonal black linen dial and a raised faceted Sapphire crystal.

The dial has hourly applied gilt batons and it is signed Omega De Ville & Swiss Made, in Silver. It has its original Omega crown that bears the omega logo.

The case diameter measures 32 mm x 25 mm excluding crown. The strap & case is 16.5 cm (6.5″) and a Sterling Silver (unmarked) extension is included, giving an extra 20mm (7.3”). Of course, we can make a custom extension to any size, at a modest fee.

The seventeen jewel calibre 625 manual movement, is signed OMEGA WATCH Co & numbered.

The solid silver bracelet strap has a clasp that bears the Omega logo. It is hallmarked 925 Sterling Silver, London, 1974. This watch weighs 79 grams and it is in immaculate condition, keeping excellent time.

I have one of these in my personal collection and friends call it my “Oliver Tobias, in “The Stud”” Watch. As you may or may not know, The Stud is a “Soft-Core” porn movie made in 1978 and based on Joan Collins’ sister Jackie’s 1969 novel of the same name. This watch and that movie – live the dream!
