This yellow 18ct gold Piaget Dancer 9706-A36 is the pinnacle of Piaget’s “watches as jewellery” philosophy. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Piaget embarked on an era of superb creativity and boundless design, creating impressive and imaginative watches for both men and women. This included a range of bracelet watches, crafted in solid gold, and adorned with precious stones.

I can’t tell you how beautiful this Piaget Dancer is on a lady’s wrist, dappled with sunlight. Light playfully dancing over every surface, sparkling, and flashing in a jewel-like way.

It’s – Just gorgeous!

This Piaget Dancer is more subtle than most, keeping the colour pallet to a minimum, concentrating on Gold for reflection and Diamonds for sparkle. The dial has a lovely gold sunburst finish which catches light “just so”, with the twelve diamond hour markers creating additional drama: all set off by plain, but sophisticated, 18ct gold Dauphine hands. The dial has a few marks, but nothing that detracts from the theatre of this piece.

The 36-diamond bezel highlights the “oh-so-simple” dial with an element of pizzaz, which only diamonds can achieve. Coupled with the integrated 18ct gold “bark” finished bracelet and 18ct white gold crown, it screams understated elegance.

Originally a gift from an Arab dignitary to its original owner, this watch was new in 1983. It comes with its “Certificate of Origin and Warranty” and a service invoice from Piaget dated 2018. We have just cleaned, polished, and serviced the 9P2 manual wind movement again, so all is working as it should.

The 18ct gold case back is showing light signs of wear, but the reference and serial numbers are still easy to read.
