Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 – The “bread & butter” for Rolex! We have said it before, and no doubt will say it again, but the OP 41 is the epitome of what Rolex is all about. It’s an over-engineered, robust, sturdy, and comfortable distillation of what Rolex is famous for; all in it’s most simplistic form, a three-hand wristwatch. It’s Rolex Watch Companies “Bread & Butter”. That’s not to belittle what they have achieved. It retains everything that Rolex is famous for. Quality and precision are its watch words. From the unfussy “built-like-a-tank” case with brushed top surfaces and polished sides, to its modest bezel and its exquisite sunburst dial; every detail is “just-so”. Even the polished and brushed case-back screams quality. Presented on the instantly recognisable Oyster bracelet, it is so easy and comfortable to wear on the wrist. It has a certain heft to it too, not just to remind you it’s there, but to remind you that you made the right decision in your choice of watch. The OP 41 we have here, was manufactured in 2020 and has the blue dial. It’s a lovely blue too, which transitions from Midnight Blue in darker conditions, to Sky Blue when light catches the sunburst finishing to its face. The baton 5-minute markers, with double markers at 3, 6 and 9 are perfectly formed and in picture-perfect proportion to the watch dial, and these glow Chromalight blue in the dark which is a sublime combination. The movement within, is a calibre 3230, the same movement as used in the no-date Submariner known for its precision and longevity. It has a 70-hour power reserve and carries COSC and Rolex certifications for performance. Again, everything you need in a watch meant for daily wear. Our example has been barely worn so shows minimal micro-scratches, the most significant being on the clasp and case-back. To all intents it would pass as a new watch! The watch comes with original inner and outer boxes, along with the outer sleeve, warranty card, instruction manual, service booklet, Rolex seal and white tag – so, a “Full Set” as they say! So, there you have it, a watch that is the essence of Rolex, which retains the brands fundamental qualities of design, engineering and performance, all in a beautiful understated package.
