One of Seiko’s most desired collections is only available in one country. The Zimbe Collection. Thailand. And they have now released 12 variations in only 3 years. Number 12 is this one. Zimbe 12 or to give it its full name – Seiko Prospex Zimbe Limited Edition No.12 “Phytoplankton” with the reference code SPB109J. The Zimbe series is named after the Japanese word for whale shark, hence the shark logo on the case-back.
Plankton is green and hence the amazing green dial on this latest variation. It absolutely pings at you on the wrist. Hopefully, the photos do its colour justice!
The series and this watch are based around the incredibly successful Marine Master line, a 200 m diving watch in a stainless steel case of 44 m diameter. It’s a big watch that still sits very well on the wrist.
The watch runs by automatic 6R15 calibre with a 50-hour power reserve.
The 12th Zimbe is a limited edition of 1,200. It is brand new and you also get a 1-year warranty included.
Included with the watch is a rubber watch strap, which may be a bit more comfortable if you do not like the weight of the steel bracelet. Also hang tags, manual, Zimbe leaflet and a nice set of 13 coasters, which come in their own branded box. All are different and show the dial of each model so far, (13 as Zimbe edition number 10 had two dials).
