The Seiko SRPD15K1 “Blue Butterfly Fish” is very, very special! Released in 2019 as a limited edition of 2200 pieces, this watch was sold exclusively in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and Macau. This particular Blue Butterfly Fish is numbered 160/2200, indicating its early position in the production run. It features a design based on the Baby Tuna case, with a yellow dial and blue bezel inspired by the Blue Butterfly Fish, which has earned it the nickname associated with this marine species. The Prospex brand is renowned for its performance, durability, and athleticism, and this unique diving watch exemplifies those qualities. The bright yellow dial, Lumibrite hour markers, and white Lumibrite hands ensure clear readability while preserving the design of the original models. This watch offers 200m water-resistance, a classic 5-minute marker bezel, and a day/date display on an easy-to-read dial designed for maximum legibility. The movement inside is Seiko’s 4R36 calibre, which beats at 21,600 BPH and has a power reserve of 41 hours. The day/date is displayed at three o’clock. With a case diameter in excess of 50mm, it does put it slightly on the larger side, but it’s still much more comfortable than you might think for a big watch. Having the Crown at 4 o’clock also limits this digging into the back of your hand. This watch is not brand-new, having been lightly worn in rotation with others. However, it is in great overall condition with minimal micro scratching. The micro scratching on the Navy Blue strap’s keeper is the most obvious. Both straps are original, and the white strap has never been worn. It comes complete, with all its original paperwork, booklets, tags, and inner and outer boxes. The boxes show the usual wear to their edges from being removed and re-inserted into each other over time, but nothing that should be concerning! So, there you have it, a fabulously rare Blue Butterfly Fish. At the time of publishing, this is the only one we know of for sale! It is in stonkingly good condition, and retains all its paperwork and packaging, ready for its next knowledgeable collector to enjoy! Will that be you? |
