Timefactors Dreadnought PRS-2 Diving Tool Watch

£3995

Is it a Unicorn? Is it a Hydra or perhaps a Loch Ness monster? No, this is more akin to another mythical beast, the Mermaid, as “underwater” is the Timefactors Dreadnought PRS-2’s natural habitat.

Why all the mythical beasts?

Well, this watch, is a Timefactors Dreadnought PRS-2, a truly mythical watch whichever way you look at it, and a Holy Grail within the Horological and Diving Watch Collectors worlds too!

Much has been written about these watches and I can highly recommend visiting the following websites which cover the history, design, and philosophy, much better than I could…

Timefactors themselves…

And a site curated by Dr Peter McClean Miller…

So, if you are still reading this, you know how rare the Dreadnought PRS-2 is, and how collectable they have become. Only 200 were produced and that’s it, no more, ever.

This particular PRS-2 is number 21/200 and is no safe queen. It has been previously enjoyed on at least three occasions, travelling across the pond at least twice.

A tool watch should be used, and #21 has been used for its intended purpose. It’s not box-fresh and displays its light battle scars with pride. These are hints of adventures past and appear mainly on the bracelet and clasp, although there are a couple of “ding” marks on the underside of the right-hand upper lug. These do not detract, particularly when the watch is on your wrist. The polished stainless steel folding clasp shows the most wear but could be polished if you felt it necessary. Our philosophy is “it’s only original once”, so we have left it as is. An honest watch!

Number 21 is in full working order, with the original dial and hands fading nicely. Similarly, the crystal, bezel and crown are spot-on too. The case back shows light hairline scratches from being worn on a fairly regular basis.

It comes complete with the original packaging and paraphernalia; only the dog tag is missing.

These watches are offered to the open market so rarely, it is difficult to know what value to put on. As far as we can tell, the last PRS-2 that sold was being offered at, circa £3000, in 2020 and only the odd one or perhaps two are sold each year. We are offering this watch at a price we believe is “about-right”, given its rarity and avid following. No doubt the Forums will be a-chatter with many comments! However, we are open to offers, so long as they aren’t insulting!

We normally summarise the specifications of each watch we sell, however, in the Dreadnought PRS-2’s case, it’s worth reading its full spec.

What an outstanding piece!
